Tuesday February 28, 2012

I've been getting better slowly, but it's still progress. This week is kinda one of those nerve racking weeks due to Science Fair( which I'm not a part of), and Tennis Team Regionals (which I am a part of). I have just felt a lot of tension in everyone, and a lot of the time it makes it pretty hard to concentrate...but I have been making progress.

Science. I MADE A 164!!!! I'm pretty sure that my highest so far. It was on the District 1 2010 test, and last time I took that, I made a 60... so there's definitely progress there! I've been getting better everyday in Science. We've mainly been skimming through chemistry, but we're gonna hit physics pretty hard once we get there!

Computer Science. Recursion is kicking my butt...I understand how to do recursion, and I can get them easily on the tests and first labs, but they got really hard!!! =[. I'm sort of at a stand still on what to do there, and sitting next to Andy doesn't really make things easier. He sits there and messes around, and then he gets my attention to show how he jokes around. He needs to understand that even though he can get it quickly, I can't, and I really do want to make it to state.

Wednesday February 22, 2012

I'm probably going to start just going through tests to make sure I understand stuff on my own time. I mean I've already been doing that, along with FPS, looking through the news, and other things in my life, but I think if I want to grow, I need to see my mistakes.

Science. I went through a test yesterday, and sure I made the best score against everyone else, but that test was very difficult for me, and I believe that it shouldn't be. I should be doing better at chemistry and biology to the point where my combined score should be closer to 200, but i'm barely grazing 150, which is frustrating me. Oh well, I need to take the frustration and turn it into positivity.

Computer Science is the same way. I sit there and take a test and I think I'm doing great because I know so much, but my scores that been between 120-150, and they should be higher at this point. I don't get why I'm stuck in this little ditch, but I think it'll just take patience for me to get out of it. I'm going to see Mr. Fleming during lunch.

Tuesday February 21, 2012

Well this weekend was kind of a break weekend, but now it's time to hit the books hard and start pwning. I'm actually not going to be here Friday due to tennis, but I'm going to see if I can get some practice tests for the road.

Science. Right now at the moment, I'm sort of struggling on redox  reactions. I think I just need to think about it and I'll start to understand it a little better. We're so close to the end that I can taste physics...

Computer Science. I think I'm ahead right now. We started recursion labs and I finished the first one before schedule, which makes me very happy. Other than that I'm just going to start taking tests more and doing better. I will make it to state in my UIL events!

Saturday February 18, 2012

I was actually going to try to blog yesterday, but that didn't really work out too well, but I'm glad it didn't because now I have more to talk about than I did before.

Science. It's been going pretty well, Mr. Viray has been getting me reviewed through chemistry very quickly actually. We're already finishing equilibrium constants and thermodynamics. We're probably gonna be done in the next week, and then he's going to start testing me on chemistry, and he has A LOT of practice he wants me to go through...I'm actually pretty excited about this.

Computer Science. Mr. Fleming and I had a sort of heart to heart today. It started off with anger from him to me. He was mad at the fact that our team hasn't been working much out of practice, which I have to say counts me also. I've been devoting my time in class to Computer Science that I didn't realize that we really weren't getting anything done, so now I'm going to spend a lot more time with Computer Science. I'm going to take tests and make a jump in my score so huge and Mr.Fleming might fall out of a chair from surprise!

Monday February 13 2012

This weekend was so much fun! It felt like a good bonding experience between our team, and all of us got along so well! I'm very glad that we got to go on that trip. I even got to see Carson at UT!! That was pretty great, so I'm glad that we went.

I'm almost done with going through all the chemistry, so physics will be next, and that will be good. There's not really too much I can say about Science at the moment mainly because we're just reviewing.

Computer Science did not go too well competition wise this weekend. I made around a 94 on the test at UT, and that was mainly because either I didn't know things or because I would make a stupid mistake. I probably could have gotten two or three more correct, but I just made a lot of silly mistakes. Programming did not go that well either... First our testing program didn't work, so we wasted about 30 minutes trying to fix that. Finally the judges just told us that we're going to have to submit without testing, so we would lose points because we could not test our work. Andy had two programs done, but he kept messing up on them, so we didn't get those turned in. Jay had one done, but he messed up on the program on JCreator, so we didn't get his turned in. I did two easy ones really quickly, but I messed up on one, so we lost about 5 points on that one. Then I was working on my last one in the last 5 minutes, and I finished it and turned it in, only to find out that I had the wrong answer, and it was going to be a small mistake in my coding that would make it not work. We ended up with only turning in my 2 and getting 115 points from programming, which dropped us from 5th place to 6th place. I was very annoyed, but at least we learned what not to do now.

Thursday February 9, 2012

Well I'm going to be leaving for Austin tomorrow, which means I probably will not be able to blog. I have done blogs for each week I've missed, counting this one because this is actually for tomorrow...I don't know if that sounded confusing or not...but oh well.

We're at the thermodynamics review for Chemistry with Mr. Viray. That's actually near the end of chemistry. I'm pretty sure that afterwards, he's going to make me take a test to see how my chemistry is going. This is pretty exciting, I'm remembering everything again! I'm going to do the same thing for biology. I might see if I can work with Mrs. Tochterman on biology because I know some things, but then I don't know some others...we'll work it out. I'm actually probably going to be able to start physics next week!!!! WOOHOO!!!! yeah... =]

Computer Science. Andy is frustrating me. Making me feel incompetent, so I guess I just have to work to prove that I'm not. The reason why I'm not going to blog tomorrow is because of computer science, which is a little ironic in a sense...kinda...We're going to be competing against 99 other teams in programming!!! I'm actually kind of nervous, but at the same time I'm pretty excited. We'll see how things turn out and I'll write it on here next week!

Wednesday February 8, 2012

I actually want to take this first paragraph to honor my dog, Shadow, who passed away yesterday. He was with me since I lived in Illinois. I actually got him when I was 5 years old, and he was my first pet. He was born with really bad hips, but that didn't matter because he never showed it when he was little. As time went on, you could tell he was getting old, but his face never showed any kind of suffering. I will always love him, and he will be forever missed.

I've been working with Mr. Viray, and in all honestly, I feel that it has been going very well. We're taking a quick review through the entire curriculum of Chemistry, so I can just comeback and make good grades in that. After we're finished, we're going to hit Physics hard and start smacking this science test around. My biology needs work, but that'd going to me just taking the book and reading.

We're going to Austin this Friday for Computer Science. That's all I've really been thinking about lately Computer Science wise. Andy and I are competing against Joe and Jay with programming packets at the moment. I'm not too worried about who is going to win, but rather how many I can get without Andy making me feel incompetent. I feel that I'm gaining more confidence in myself, so that'd good. Just need to work and I'll get better. All I can really say about that.

Tuesday February 7, 2012

I haven't been blogging, and I'm sorry about that. We made this thing where Friday was our blogging day, and I was going to follow that, but when tennis started coming, I was an idiot and completely forgot about doing this. I'm going to do blogs this whole week to make up for not doing a blog for so long...

Science has been getting better! I made a 140 on a test yesterday, which I can't say is the greatest of scores, but I actually answered some physics! This breakthrough might help me out later. I've actually decided on a new regimen. For the rest of the year, I'm going to be going to Mr. Viray for science practice during GTIS. I don't ever see Mr. Viray, so this will probably be for the better.

Now you might be a little nervous about Computer Science, but you shouldn't be. I've decided that 3-4 times a week I'm going to spend my lunch period with Mr. Fleming. I also have him for a class, so I tend to see him everyday anyways, so learning comp. sci. should not be a problem. Also, I'M SO PUMPED!!! This friday, I'm going to Austin with the Computer Science team to compete against 99 other schools in a programming competition!!!! This is going to be exciting. I'll give you more details on things later in the week.
